Vitamin K deficiency results in a hypocoagulable state resulting in a reduction of coagulation factors, increasing PTT and an increase in PT and INR level. The other disease that results in a similar situation is Crohn disease.
There’s an important tip for the exam that you need to know and that is excess vitamin E, garlic, fish oil and gingko bilboa can also interfere with vitamin K absorption and result in an excess PTT, PT and INR leading to bleeding.
